Ten millionaires have emerged in the DiamondXtra promo in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Besides the millionaires, who got N1 million each, the star prize winner, Mr. Austin Omoriegbe, won a Hyundai Creta Sport Utility Vehicle, 2016 model, worth over N6 million during the Southsouth draw.
Thirty persons won N500, 000 each to join the 4,500, who won millions of naira in the last eight years when the promo began.
Some customers also won ‘salary- for-life’, as N100,000 will be credited to their accounts before end of every month for 20 years.
One of the winners, Mr. Duru Chukwuemeka, a dealer in building materials, who operates a Diamond Xtra savings account in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, said he had been enjoying ‘salary-for-life’ since 2014.
He added: “I received a call that I should come to Lagos because I had won ‘salary-for-life’. Later, I got an alert from Diamond Bank. That was in 2014. Since then I’ve been receiving this amount every last Thursday of the month.”
A woman, Lara Fatima, who said the promo was real, recalled how she doubted an employee of the bank, who informed her in 2014 that she had won N1 million.
She said she was surprised when she got an alert from the bank crediting her account.
Fatima told the crowd she resigned from a job in January 2014, and she won N1 million three days later.
She said she used the money to start a business that had been yielding profits.
The Head, Mass Market Segment, Osita Ede, said the draw was for accounts in the Southsouth.
He urged customers to be part of the promo by opening an account with a minimum of N5,000 to qualify for the lottery.
The Director-General of the National Lottery Regulation Commission (NLRC), Mr. Adolphus Ekpe, said the commission was established to help Nigerians experience fortune in the right way.
Represented by an official of the commission, Betty Obioha, the NLRC boss said the promo was transparent and credible.”
