Winners emerged at the weekend as the MerryBet5Stars Premier League successfully ended with the Northern region big guns 12 Strong FC edged Snowlions FC with a 2-1 win at the Ilaji Sports Resort Mini Stadium, Ibadan.
The event had in attendance Oyo State Commissioner for Sports, Seun Fakorede, Nigerian Football Legend Mutiu Adepoju, the Oyo State FA Chairman represented by the Secretary, MerrybetSports top official, Engr Simide Daramola and other notable guests.
The fans were treated to a spectacle as 12 Strong FC dictated game in the early minutes and took the lead with an expert finish from striker Lawrence Hassan after Snowlions’ goalie Okonkwo spilled an early effort.
Their course was further boosted in the 52nd minute as Sadiq Saleh fired home what would be the winner following a melee off a corner kick.

Snowlions pulled one back through a penalty from skipper Akanbi in the 58th minute but it proved to be too late as 12 Strong held on for a historic win.
The season which began on June 11th in Abuja saw the Northern region register 183 goals which 12 Strong emerged as winners of the Southern region in Lagos began on August 13th and saw a total of 127 goals scored which Snowlions emerged winners.
Following the finals held at the weekend a grand total of 313 goals were scored in the 2022 Merrybet 5Stars Premier League expanded season.
“The league next season will have matches played simultaneously and further expand to the regions of Delta,” Managing Director 5stars Football, Olumide Aturu said.
