Plateau State Police Commissioner Adekunle Oladunjoye has said the command lost 15 officers last year.

Oladunjoye, who briefed reporters yesterday in his office on the command’s achievement, said:

“We lost 15 policemen while fighting criminals. That was the sacrifice by the command while protecting life and property.

“This does not mean the criminals were superior, or that the police were not equipped.

“It also does not mean we lost the battle against the criminals in 2015. We arrested 3,378 suspects and prosecuted 1,935.

“One thousand four hundred and twenty criminals were convicted. Seven hundred and sixty are awaiting trial and 350 cases are being investigated.

“We recovered stolen property valued at N56,233.190k.”

He added: “Some of our strategies include aggressive patrol system and the measure has been yielding results. It has made it impossible for criminals to operate.

“We monitor ex-convicts to prevent them from returning to crimes.”
