164 ex-corps members get civil service jobs

•Nine disabled too

Amid excitement, 164 former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, who distinguished themselves during the 2012, 2013 and 2014 service years, got yesterday letters of appointment into the Federal Civil Service.

Also rewarded were nine disabled corps members, who suffered various forms of disability during their service years.

NYSC Director General Brig.-Gen. Johnson Bamidele Olawumi said the disabled corps members should not think that they served their fatherland in vain.

“The NYSC will not abandon any corps members that suffered any form of disability during their service year to their faith, they are our responsibility,” he said.

Congratulating the awardees, the NYSC Director General urged them to continue to see themselves as good ambassadors of the service.

Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) Chairman Joan Ayo, who congratulated the awardees on their character during the service year, said they were given appointments based on merit and not on federal character.

The awardees expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for the gesture and promised to support the Muhammadu Buhari administration in sustaining the change agenda.
