A former governor of Oyo State, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja says there is nothing wrong with a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election..
He urged the citizens to shun religious differences while electing their leaders come 2023, adding that what matters most is for the best candidate to emerge as the President of the nation.
Speaking with journalists at his Bodija residence, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland maintained that there is no need for Nigerians to be fighting themselves because of religion, adding that both Muslims and Christians are one.
He noted that though Nigerians are cautious of having a Muslim as the President and Vice President because of insecurity that has ravaged the country, he said there is nothing wrong in having Muslim-Muslim leaders.
“I don’t see anything wrong in Muslim-Muslim ticket, because I don’t intervene in the religion matters. Muslims and Christians are from the same father, Abraham is known as Ibrahim in Islam.
“Some people are following Ismail, while some are following Isaac who are siblings. So, what is now my own to be fighting for one among them.
“Even, I don’t have time to fight with the traditionalists. It is only God that knows his servants; so, why must we fight over religion.”
Reacting to recent attacks on the advance team convoy of President Buhari and the Kuje Medium Correctional Centre, Abuja, Ladoja regretted that bandits are now oppressing Nigerians and threatening security of lives and prosperity of the people.
