23,991 N-Skill beneficiaries get training  in additional trade

MINISTER of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, has said the ministry will train 23,991 N-Skills beneficiaries on additional trade in the second phase of its programme.

She spoke in Bauchi during the training of Master Craft Persons from Northeast and launch  for the second phase  of N-Skills.

The minister said the MCPs were selected using NBTE-guided criteria, noting the ministry selected 1,830 MCPs from 36 states and Federal Capital Territory for the six-month apprenticeship.

“We are onboarding 23,991 N-Skills beneficiaries for training on additional 11 trades: i.e. auto-mechanic, leatherworks and shoe making, smart devices, welding & fabrication, aluminum assembly & fabrication, among others.”

She said since inception of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in 2015, “the Federal Government has promoted the plight of poor and vulnerable despite economic slump.”

“The ministry is working with stakeholders (including NBTE and awarding bodies) on formation of Master Craft Persons (MCPs) clusters and to provide support to MCP cluster structures and internal governance. The ministry is paying a modest stipend to the MCPs to enhance delivery of the training…’’

“We expect you, Master Craft Persons, to effectively play your role of providing work-based training for the next 6 months, to boost their productivity and incomes, and to explore the opportunity of becoming NBTE-accredited trainers,” she said further.
