Christian Weli has stressed the importance of Rivers United claiming three points when they face Shooting Stars at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Sunday.
Rivers United won 1-0 at home to Niger Tornadoes last weekend and defeated Shooting Stars 3-2 on penalties in the round of 16 of the Federation Cup at midweek.
The central midfielder has made it clear that a victory in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League match will complete a fruitful week for the Pride of Rivers.
“The most important thing for us is the next game. If you combine the determination of the places where we live with hard work, you will know that we only need to do so in the field. If we get three points we will be very happy and fulfilled knowing fully well that we have done well in the last one week,” Weli told Goal.
“To be honest with you, this game will not be easy. We are looking at winning the league title, while they are battling relegation. We just need to be a strong team. If we can win the game, it will be great. It’s very important to win to get the three points,” he added.
