Arabic board develops strategic plan for schools

In a bid to address the falling standard of education in Nigeria, the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has developed a strategic plan to enhance quality assurance in schools.

The Registrar, Professor Muhammed Shafiu Abdullahi, disclosed this at the flag-off of NBAIS Schools Quality Assurance sensitisation programme in Minna, Niger State.

According to him, the plan would work in line with the National Policy on Education, which continuously seeks to address the falling standard of education in Nigeria.

The Registrar, who was represented by the Director of Administration, Hafsat Ahmed Duro, said part of the plan is posting of trained NBAIS staff to all Arabic and Islamic secondary schools to serve as the board’s Quality Assurance Officers.

He said that this would help in effective implementation of NBAIS school syllabi and curriculum, and to provide data on the activities of schools.

“With the provision of this data, the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies will be better informed for a strong basis for examining it’s candidates. So far, over 1,000 schools have been adopted,” the registrar added.
