‘The Edge’ beams light on undocumented life in US

The allure the United States of America has on many Nigerians seem to be irresistible, especially those in dire conditions. For this category of persons, they would not hesitate to grab an opportunity to gain permanent residence status in the US. But not everyone waits for such opportunity. Rather, some create it.

And that is exactly the theme which ‘The Edge’, a new film by Joseph Jaiyeola, which was released on Friday on Apata TV on YouTube, explores.

Set in the US and Nigeria, Segun, the hero of ‘The Edge’, arrives the US and is determined to stay despite the fact that he has no papers.

His cousin temporarily releases his wife for him so as to facilitate the processing of the latter’s document. But Segun soon falls in love with the wife of a man who goes the extra mile to help him.

Directed by Bayo Alawiye, ‘The Edge’ features Jaiyeoba as Segun and also stars Rachael Oniga, Yemi Solade and Bayo Alawiye. Others are Shabazza Ahmed, Ayo Made, Adebusola Adewunmi, Nadia X, Dele Olanipekun, Yewande Ogunsanya, Yomi Samson, Bosun Hassan, Orlando Oguntoyinbo Tunde Omiyewo,  Yomi Samson, Breana Kelly and Hector Flores.

Fans of the late Herietta Kosoko will also have her memory renewed in the course of watching The Edge as she is Segun’s mother, indicating that the movie really fermented before seeing the light of premiere.

Jaiyeoba said that he considers ‘The Edge’ an improvement over his earlier movies such as ‘Poison’ and ‘Adia’.

“Many have, for instance, appreciated our picture quality and other aspects of the technical,” Jaiyeoba said.

“So, a completely exciting experience awaits film lovers.
