ALL roads would lead to Dallas, Texas from May 3 to May 4 as Anderson Obiagwu, the CEO of Big A Entertainment and founder of AFRIMMA Awards celebrates 10 years of crossing boundaries with music.
Some of the activities lined up include a book launch, album launch as well as unveiling a documentary of his journey promoting and crossing boundaries with music.
Obiagwu is one of the most reputable names in African entertainment in Diaspora. For over a decade, the Imo State born Obiagwu has promoted African arts, culture and entertainment.
Obiagwu, a serial entrepreneur, grew up in the eastern part of Nigeria and is described by people who knew him as a young bright boy with huge dreams of impacting the world.
Married to Ifeoma Obiagwu and with three children, Obiagwu who has resided in the US for over 20 years, has carved a niche for himself as one of the biggest African music promoters. His passion for African music led to the creation of three trailblazing companies Big A Entertainment, African Muzik Magazine and African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
Big A Entertainment promotes African Music to the rest of the world by assisting African artistes cross over boundaries through music and discover new niches. And some of Africa’s biggest music stars like 2face Idibia, P-square, Awilo Logomba, Fally Ipupa, Wizkid, Diamond Platnumz, Psquare, Timaya, Flavour, Banky W, Kcee, Davido, Iyanya, Dj Arafat, Eddy Kenzo, and Caribbean artistes like Demarco and many more have had shows and tours executed by Big A Entertainment in America and Canada. Also, top African comedians like Basketmouth, Bovi, Anne Kansime have been on Big A Entertainment tours.
At a time when it was not lucrative to identify with the African entertainment industry, Obiagwu put his money where his mouth and heart is and invested in the careers and lives of many of the talented young Africans who started doing great things with music.
For the past five years, Obiagwu has consistently organised two annual charity events – the Children’s Easter and Christmas party. The idea to give back to the Dallas Fort Worth community in Texas has turned into an event the children and parents look forward to yearly. The children always have a great time and do not miss Santa and the free gifts at the Christmas version. They enjoy the food, drinks, games and prizes won at the games during this event.
