Brothers suspected to be ritualists nabbed

Niger State Police Command has nabbed three brothers suspected to be ritualists.

They are from Borgu Local Government.

The suspects, Saminu Usman, 25, Yusuf Usman 22, and Muhammadu Usman, 35, were accused of killing Shehu Garba for rituals.

The police arrested the trio when the victim’s father, Yakubu Garba, reported them.

It was learnt that the suspects took Shehu Garba to a nearby bush, killed him and cut one of his hands for alleged rituals.

One of the suspects, Saminu, said his eldest brother, Muhammadu, instructed that the victim’s hand be cut for rituals.

He said they were told that the hand would give them quick money.

“It was actually our intention to kill our victim for rituals. After killing him, we cut off his hand, which we intended to use for rituals. That was how we found ourselves in the police net.

“I don’t know what to say, but we have disappointed our parents and relations. Imagine three brothers going to jail at the same time. We have ruined our lives,” Saminu said.

Police spokesman Muhammad Abubakar said the suspects had confessed to the crime, adding that the group killed their victim for rituals.

He said the suspects would soon be arraigned.
