The Olisa of Emuren Town in Shagamu Local Government, Chief Nosiru Tayo has announced the new Elemuren of Emuren Town, Otunba Adesegun Bolaji-Alowonle.
Tayo, announced the emergence of the new King elects yesterday after three hours of a closed-door meeting for the nomination of the new King by the King Makers of Emuren Town.
Presence at the meeting includes; the Chairman. Shagamu Local Government, Oluemi Kafak, Chairman, Shagamu South Local Council Development Agency, Hon Olugbenga Hassan and Secretary to Shagamu Local Government, Otunba Wale Fakoya who supervised the process.
There was the heavy presence of anti-riot policemen from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, {SRAS} military personnel, Agbekoya and other security operatives to dislodge miscreants from disrupting the meeting.
Otunba Segun Bolaji Alowonle was among the seven candidates, who were nominated by the members of the Owuyo Ruling House, whose turn is to provide the next monarch of the town.
Speaking after the meeting, Tayo said that four members of the kingmakers in Emuren Town unanimously voted for the emergence of the new Elemure of Emuren, Otunba Segun Alowonle and we are duly grateful for the conclusion of the process which the community had long for since the death of the former king of the town in 2017.
Tayo, who is the Regent of Emuren debunked the rumor making the rounds that money had changed hands as a lie because nobody collected a dime from anybody.
He said “apart from the traditional steps taken by the Kingmakers, we look at other consideration which were education, contribution to the progress of the town, the well withal, behaviour, family background, maturity, and acceptability among the people of Emure especially the youths”.
“Money did not play a role and if for money the outcome of the election would have been different.”
“I appeal to all contestants who are Prince and Princess of Awuyo and indeed all citizens of Emure to remain calm and join hands with the Oba elect to move the community forward as the town has been long neglected.”
He thanked the support of the Governor of Ogun State and the Akarigbo of Remo Land and his Royal Majesty, Oba Adewale Ajayi and other kings in Remo land.
In his acceptance speech, the new Oba Elect, Otunba Segun Bolaji Alowonle said he is delighted about his emergence as the Oba elect of the Town and he promise to work for the interest of the community.
He said, “traditional rulers are subjects to the community and we will work with the people and deliver their message to the government of the day”.
“My role is to serve the people as I am the servant of the people and am ready to work with everybody to move the community forward”, he said.
