Indian cultural association celebrates Mahatma Gandhi

Indian Cultural Association, in partnership with the High Commission of India in Lagos has invited Nigerians to come celebrate the World Cycling Day with them to commemorate the 150th Birthday Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Indian nation.

In a statement made available to The Nation, the President Indian Cultural Association, Chief Sanjay Jain said the event would take place at the Eko Atlantic City, Lagos on June 2nd, 2019. He called on Nigerians, members of the diplomatic community, Indian community, expatriates, sportspersons, students, and friends of India among others to join for the cycle run.

Jain stated that Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Abhay Thakur, would be taking up with various stakeholders to organise the event, adding that Simba Group will also be supporting the event with several number of bicycles on returnable basis for the participants who are not coming with their own bicycles.

According to him, it has been proved by health experts and doctors that cycling is one of the most effective exercises which give best results on the human body.

“Taking a cue from there, we feel, it shall be the most appropriate to inculcate this habit in the daily routines with a single aim to achieve best of health and wellbeing. We believe, organising this kind of events and spreading the news about it will definitely encourage lots of people to adopt cycling.
