Cross River: Ex-appointees get ultimatum to return vehicles

The Cross River State government on Monday issued a directive to all ex-appointees to return their official vehicles within 78 hours to avoid being embarrassed by law enforcement agents.

A statement by the Chief of Staff to the governor, Mr. Martins Orim, made available to reporters in Calabar, read, “All former commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistants and other former appointees of the Cross River State Government, including chairmen and members of commissions, boards, agencies, governing councils and Local Governments Security Council chairmen, who were issued official vehicles are hereby directed to return same to the office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor within 78 hours.

 “The affected persons are advised to promptly comply with the directive to avoid embarrassment by law enforcement agents.”

Meanwhile the state governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade also approved the appointment of Mr. Godwin Nyiam as the acting Director General of the Department of Public Transportation (DOPT), and also the appointment of Engr Oxford Egbe as the acting Director General of the Cross River State Development Control Agency.

This was also in a statement by Orim, which also directed the Forestry Commission to take over the functions of the state’s Anti-Deforestation Task Force until further notice.

Orim was retained as Chief of Staff by Ayade after being sworn in for a second term in office. The governor is yet to make other appointments.
