ARG advises lawmakers on quality representation

Ekiti State chapter of Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) has urged the newly inaugurated lawmakers in the Ninth National Assembly to make laws for the country’s overall development.

The group, who said the lawmakers are needed at this critical point that the country is faced by insecurity in various forms, advocated for a more robust legislation capable of addressing the menace.

The group, in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti by its Publicity Secretary, Prince Michael Ogungbemi, said the lawmakers as the direct representatives of the people, should work hard to give quality representation through the enactment of laws that would impact positively on the people.

ARG stressed the need for the National Assembly to establish harmonious working relationship with the executive, saying that would enable the downtrodden to get maximum benefits derivable from democracy.

“With the mandates given to the lawmakers by the electorate, nothing short of robust, responsive and impactful representations are expected.

“It is our expectation that there would be a clear departure from the ugly past of Legislative/Executive bickering, which inevitably effected Nigeria as a country.

“In view of this, there is a need for a harmonious relationship between the two arms of government that will ultimately engender socio-political and economic development,” it said.
