No deployment of NYSC corps member to crisis prone areas in Niger

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Niger state, Mrs. Funmilayo Ajayi has said that no Corps Member would be posted to Shiroro local government area and other areas that are prone to violence and attacks in the state.

Just as she said that all Corps members serving in these areas have been redeployed to other areas.

Ajayi stated this while speaking to newsmen after the 2019 Batch ‘B orientation course and swearing in of corps members to Niger state at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Paiko.

“We are not posting members to crisis-prone areas in the state. Even the members who are serving in these areas, we have redeployed them to a safer local government area to serve.

The Coordinator said that 2,037 corps members comprising of 1,086 female and 951 male, have been fully documented for the orientation course.

The Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello who was represented by the Secretary to the Niger state Goverment, Alhaji Ibrahim Matane urged the corps members to go about their lawful daily activities without any apprehension adding that all that cogent steps have already been taken to restore peace in the communities that were affected by the recent banditry attacks.

He said that security has been enforced around the affected areas so that the people can return to their homes to continue their farming activities.

The SSG further reiterated Government determination to continue to discharge its constitutional responsibility of protecting the lives and property of every resident in the State.

He then charged the Corps members to use their service year to follow the path to prosperity from here stressing on the need for them to demonstrate high sense of responsiveness towards life.

“So much is expected of you as an example for those coming behind you. The society is in dire need of youths who are enterprising, disciplined and equipped with requisite skills to take over as we move into the next level. “
