The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, has admonished corps members to shun bribery, corrupt practices and all forms of indiscipline during their service year.
He warned youths against being susceptible to any form of bribery, adding that the giver and receiver would be punished, if found guilty.
Ibrahim stated this when he addressed this year’s Batch “B” Stream I corps members in Benue and Taraba states’ orientation camps.
A statement yesterday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, by NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations Adenike Adeyemi, said the DG noted that corps members, as national assets, should serve as responsible role models in the society.
He admonished them to respect the NYSC bye-laws, oath of allegiance, national anthem and other statutory laws during their service year.
The NYSC chief also advised female corps members to honour themselves and not throw away their womanhood for gratifications.

Ibrahim, who had an interaction with officials of the two camps, urged them to regard corps members as their children and treat them well.
Also, the DG urged the corps members to embrace skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme of the NYSC.
He said the programme was designed to make them employers of labour and not job seekers.
Ibrahim gave the advice while addressing the Batch “B” Stream I corps members deployed in Enugu State at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Awgu.
The DG admonished the corps members to participate in the in-camp and post-camp training of the SAED programme to enhance their skills.
He added that NYSC management had partnered the Bank of Industry (BoI), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other institutions to grant loans to corps members with good business proposals.
“Youths are the engines of growth of any country and it is ideas that bring money. Take advantage of the skills acquisition and remain focused. Be disciplined. With the knowledge of whatever you studied, the sky is your limit.
“Avoid cultism, drugs and crimes. Be patriotic to your country and let your names be written in gold for food things, wherever you find yourselves,” Ibrahim.
