Three held as gunmen kill man at home

A man identified as Charles Norah was on Saturday morning killed in his Lagos home by three gunmen.

The incident occurred at 15, Fola Ojikutu Street, off Century Bus Stop, Ago Palace Way, Okota in Isolo, Lagos.

Norah, a father of three, was said to have been shot in the skull after being asked to lay with his face to the ground.

It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the victim’s residence at about 2am.

They were said to have used a ladder to enter Norah’s apartment at the topmost floor of the three-storey building he lived with his wife, children and mother-in-law.

It was gathered that the gunmen after dispossessing Norah’s wife of undisclosed cash and other valuables, locked every other person in a room except him.

Residents said the widow told sympathisers at dawn that the gunmen had a brief discussion with her husband, told him to lie down and shot him.

A neighbour, who pleaded anonymity, told The Nation on Monday that he was alerted of the robbers’ presence by another neighbour.

He said: “He said the robbers used a ladder we normally use to check the overhead tank to enter the man’s house. So, we alerted the security guard. They rushed down and used the same ladder to get to the flat and found him dead.

“The wife told us they came in around 2am and left around past 3am. They entered through the husband’s room. She said her husband confronted them.

“Thinking it was the man and his wife exchanging words, the grandmother knocked on his room and the robbers took the grandmother and his wife to the children’s room.

“She said the robbers discussed with her husband for some minutes, but they could not hear what they said. They heard gunshot and later saw his dead body.

“The robber took all her belongings and fled before the security men arrived. We contacted the police in the morning and they came in the afternoon.

“I think the police should be more on this axis and have more men at hand to secure lives and properties.

“The police should share their emergency code. If we had it, we would have called them instead of the security men,” he said.

Police spokesman Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), said it was a robbery case, adding that the gunmen have been arrested.
