Police Zone 5 arrest three armed robbery suspects

The Police in Zone 5, Benin, have arrested three armed robbery suspects and recovered a Toyota Camry car with registration number Lagos AGL 633 DO from them.

DSP Emeka Iheanacho, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the zone, comprising Edo, Delta and Bayelsa, disclosed this in Benin on Wednesday.

Iheanacho said that the arrest was in line with the commitment of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the zone, Paul Yakadi, to flush out criminals from the zone.

He explained that on July 1, operatives of the zonal Anti-Vice squad, while acting on complaint from concerned citizens, arrested the suspects.

The spokesman said two of the suspects were based in Lagos while the third was based in Ughelli in Delta.

He also disclosed that the recovered vehicle belonged to one Mr Isikhuemen Ezekiel, resident in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo.

He further disclosed that the recovered vehicle which was originally registered with Edo EKP 639 EX was snatched from the owner at his premises at gun point on July 9, 2015.

The police image maker said that investigation was still ongoing and efforts geared towards arresting other members of the syndicate.

Iheanacho also said that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.

He enjoined members of the public to support the zone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals.
