An outgoing 2018 Batch “B” corps member abducted during the February general elections in Anambra state was on Thursday celebrated by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for her gallantry and resilience.
The corps member, Onisuru Oghenetega, who participated as ad-hoc staff in the poll was celebrated during her passing out ceremony together with five others who distinguished themselves in their places of primary assignments.
Speaking in Ajali, Orumba North local government area, the State Coordinator, Kehinde Aremu said he chose the council area to appreciate the corps members’ doggedness and commitment to the scheme.
He said he was challenged by
Oghenetega’s insistence in carrying out her primary assignment in the council despite the bitter experience.
He said, “I’m happy to see one of the corps members kidnapped during the last general elections in the state here with us hale and hearty.
“One would have expected her to have sought for redeployment as a result of the trauma she passed through after the incident.”
The coordinator thanked the corps members for their deligence, urging them to put in practice all the skills they learnt in course of their assignments.

Aremu said he was aware that some of them have built relationships in course of the service, urging them not to be in a hurry to dispose of such contacts as they would be relevant in the nearest future.
Responding, the Chairman of the council, Dr. Ikwueto Obinna commended the corps members for their immense contributions especially in the healthcare and education sectors.
“We have corps members who really added values into our health sector and our education sector as well,” he said.
Speaking to newsmen, Oghenetega said she was not traumatized as expected, adding that she would like to come back anytime to the state which she described as safe.
Five out of the 64 outgoing corps members were rewarded with a certificate of recognition and a standing fan each in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the local government council.
