Lagos State House of Assembly has exonerated a member, Hon. Moshood Oshun, from the allegation of collection of $200,000 bribe from contractors as contained in a petition to the House.

Oshun, who represents Mainland 2, had been accused of collecting a whopping $200,000 bribe money from three companies to cover up for their non-performing contracts worth over N9billion awarded to them by the immediate past administration of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The petition was submitted to the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, by an anti-corruption campaign organisation, Stop Corruption Now Initiative, and signed by its President, Olakunle Omisade.

In the petition, Osun, who is the Chairman of the House ad-hoc Committee on Environmental Sanitation, was accused of collecting the said illicit money from contractors who were awarded various contracts bordering on the environment by the Akinwunmi Ambode administration to the tune of N9billion paid upfront against established rules.

The said companies are: Quality Sanctuary Services Limited, Jane Rin International Services Limited and Blue Bridge Marine Services Limited.

tion, how do you want to mend it? You don’t think about his wife and children. What do you want him to tell them? I am even used to it as the Speaker, because it happened to my predecessors.”

The Speaker added that it never happened to him as a member, but that it started in 2015, when he became speaker, adding that it might be one of the features of the office.

He added: “But for it to happen to a member that is investigating something that was done in the past is unfortunate. We should just get used to it because we are investigating a matter that involved billions of naira.

“We will want the writers of the petition to come forward or else we will throw it out. The people involved in the investigations would definitely want to fight back. I want to urge Hon. Moshood Oshun to just take it as one of those things.”

It was then concluded that the petition should be thrown out by the House.
