Nigerians have been urged to contribute to building a better nation by giving back to humanity especially the indigents in the society.
Abraham Ajijola made the call during his public presentation as the new president of the Lions Club international, Yaba Centennial, district 404A1 held in Lagos.
Speaking at the fundraising and investiture ceremony programme, Abraham stated that the focus of his tenure would be committed to selfless service that would address the plight of the less privileged and give succour, especially to children and women at large.
He added that the club would focus on borehole drilling, cataract surgery, feeding the hungry, eye testing and glasses distribution, free diabetes screening and childhood cancer awareness among others.
“I want to urge us all to come together and give back to humanity, we Lions’ club do it because we have the compassion to do it and we serve with love and passion, so whatever it is we give, we give it heartily with love,”.
Commenting on Abraham’s speech, Lion Adekunle Adedoyin Adedipe, District Governor, 2019-2020 said “in addition to projects which should be informed by a proper needs analysis in your community, please pay attention also to our five focal areas of service; sharing the vision, relieving hunger, protecting our environment, fight against diabetes and fight against paediatric cancer.
“None of the foregoing can be achieved unless you pay special attention to club administration, ensuring you strive for excellence in service while serving with integrity and purpose.”
Presents at the programme are Tijani Shuaib, Dayo Isreal, Arinola Nosiru, Oluwasanmi Ojo, Tosin Soyoye among others.
