The trial of Rivers State’s most dreaded suspect Gracious David-West has been fixed for today.
David-West, arrested on suspicion of being behind the serial killing of ladies in hotels across the country including Rivers, was scheduled to be tried on Monday but the absence of his counsel necessitated an adjournment to today.
The matter came before Justice Adolphus Enebeli of the state high court sitting in Port Harcourt.
Thirty-nine year-old-David-West is believed to have struck most in Rivers, Imo, Abia, Delta, Delta and Lagos, killing a total of 17 women in cold blood.
He was later apprehended on his way to Akwa Ibom State, apprently to continue with his killing spree. He told the police that he killed for the fun Of it, adding that he had no need to mutilate the bodies of his victims, hence they were left intact.
He was arrested September 19, 2019 and paraded the next day. The police said they have been investigating him ahead of the prosecution.

Believed to have concluded all investigations, the police finally produced him before Justice Enebeli amidst heavily armed police security on Monday for arraignment, but the efforts was stalled by lack of lawyer to represent him in court.
Following the development, the matter could not go on, and the trial Judge declined hearing the charge against him without a lawyer standing in for him.
He urged the police to return him to cell while he endeavoured to engage a lawyer to defend him.
Prosecuting counsel, a Superintendent of Police, Gladys Gimegu said the police are ready to go ahead to prosecute the suspect, assuring that he would be presented before the court today to begin the trial.
