RYLA team unveils 2019 creed

Members of the 2019 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) team have unveiled RYLA’s 35th creed.

The unveiling is part of activities to show that preparations are on for the 2019 RYLA scheduled for November.

The Chairman, Abiodun Oshonibosi, said: “We have received entries from many youths and we are currently doing the nomination, citing and screenings. We will go on to hold a booth camp screening, a youth protection seminar, prize of honour and then hold the booth camp all between October 28 and December 1.”

According to Oshonibosi, all entries must come through a rotary club whether the entrant is a member or not. He added that the expected 400 participants will be judged on communication, morning duties, life jacket drills, cooking, adaptation, commitment, time management and other areas.

Participants will be camped at the Sea School, Apapa, Lagos, he added. Facilitators at the camp will include Kunle Afolayan, Kate Henshaw, Opeyemi Awoyemi, Kamlesh Jain, Ernest Mbanefo, Pascal Dike, Belleroae Okojie, and Fabian Akaezie.

Keynote speakers include S&D EXEC MTNN, Kunle Adeniyi and Commercial Director, Guinness Nigeria, Tsola Barrow, for the opening and closing ceremonies.

“Also, on November 24, we will recognise youths between the ages of 14-30 who have exhibited exemplary and extraordinary attributes within their communities through the Prize of honour.

“The prize of honour will be in the areas of Agriculture, Technology, Sport, Entrepreneurship, Music, Citizenship and Acting,” he added.

Governor of District 9110 Jide Akeredolu said participants will learn fellowship, integrity, diversity and lots more.
