Methodist Church plans evangelism trust fund

Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria Dr. Samuel Uche has said the church is planning to set up an Evangelism Trust Fund (ETF) for mission and evangelism.

The cleric, who spoke during the 19th annual conference of the Council of Knights and seventh Assembly of the Ladies of Knights, promised that the fund will be spent on the purpose for which it was set up.

The conference was hosted at the Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Church, Yaba, Lagos.

Uche said the ETF became necessary because money generated from seed of faith, tithes were becoming inadequate for evangelism.

Speaking on the theme of the conference, ‘Obedient knight, God’s treasure’, the prelate reiterated the essence of promoting man’s worthy relationship with God always, saying ‘to be obedient to God is to be like father Abraham who obeyed God’s instruction without question’.

He described knighthood as a call to duty. “Our knighthood is therefore not for sale and will never be for sale. As a church, we see it as a motivation to do more. Therefore, those who became Knights are expected not to rest on their oars. It is a call to duty.”

Senator Oluremi Tinubu was represented at the event by Chairman of Mainland Local Government Omolola Essien while the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly was represented by Chairman, House Committee on Lands Adedamola Kasumu.
