An Ogun monarch, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi on Friday faulted the ongoing border closure in the Yewa axis of the state.

Oba Akinyemi, who is the Eselu of Iseluland in Yewa North Local Government Area of the state, said the security agents deployed to enforce the exercise have compromised.

He urged concerned authorities to change operatives attached to the joint border operation at regular intervals.

‘’The federal government  meant well for the country by closing the border, but security agents deployed as part of the joint border enforcement squad are messing up the exercise.

‘’The security agents have overstayed their time in the border areas and they are now aiding oil bunkerers and fuel smugglers, hence, they should be changed or replaced at regular intervals.

‘’They prevent sale of fuel into jerry cans, yet, they allow tankers to move petrol to Benin Republic through Madoga road in Idiroko, Obele road in Oja Odan and Ijoun road.

The first class monarch urged the federal government to establish industries around border areas to discourage teeming jobless local youths from indulging in smuggling activities.

‘’The federal government have been allocating money for border development every year, yet, there is nothing at the border to show for except customs’ houses. The border areas should be industrialized by encouraging investors or manufacturers to establish industries in the area to prevent jobless youths from engaging in smuggling activities.’’
