Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said that he will soon announce members of his Executive Council.
Ganduje assured that he has gathered tested, trusted and experienced hands to put heads together to champion the cause of taking Kano to the Next Level.
Ganduje commended Permanent Secretaries of different ministries in the state for their efforts so far and urged them never to relent in the good work they are doing.
According to him, “we will, very soon have Commissioners in place. So that we continue fine-tuning our policies, programmes and projects. Your work as public servants on this document, clearly, buttresses a point that civil service is the bedrock of any government.”
Ganduje made the disclosure at a meeting with the Permanent Secretaries of all the ministries, held at the Council Chamber, Governor’s office, Kano, on Sunday.
The meeting deliberated on the proposed budget document, which he said will soon be presented to Kano state House of Assembly.
“We have already completed the process, what remains now is the brainstorming and fine-tuning of the document before final presentation to the State House of Assembly,” he added.
He further stated that “the cardinal point of the budget was human development, which is very vital in the overall development of the state. We are very much concerned of all the sectors and sub-sectors in the state. And we will try and complete so many uncompleted projects.”
Speaking on free and compulsory primary and post primary education, Ganduje said, when he talks of free, he means “free” so also compulsory, he means “compulsory.”
“When we talk of free we are at the same time, being concerned about the learning environment, teaching and learning materials, among other things. We are grateful to Allah that we got improvement in the pupils’ enrolment since when we started implementing this policy of free and compulsory education,” he said.
He further explained that “when we talk of compulsory, we are at the same time saying that there are process and procedures to be followed to achieve that particular aspect. When we talk of health care delivery system, we are referring to improved health care system. By this we mean, the provision of health facilities, we also mean staff development, consumables and so on and so forth.”

Ours is to improve community participation in such critical and important sectors like security, health, education, agriculture and the lot.”
While assuring that the budget would be realistic, he maintains that, global best practice was followed right from the inception stage up to the level reached during the meeting, the first of its kind. Assuring that it would remain so till the last stage of the financial document.
