THE governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos in the 2019 general elections, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, expressed deep sorrow over Johnson’s death.
He described the late former military governor as a man of impeccable and unassailable character, who laid the foundation for modern Lagos.
Agbaje urged the country’s political class to imbibe the selflessness that earmarked Johnson’s regime, lamenting that the country would have recorded greater developments if leaders had continued along the patriotic paths laid by the likes of the late former military governor of Lagos.
Obanikoro, in his own condolence message, former minister of state for defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro said Johnson set a standard as Lagos governor for all his successors.

He said: “It is indeed a big loss to Lagos, Nigeria and humanity. A fine soldier and gentleman; one of the founding fathers of Lagos State. A state they fought for and created in order to give indigenous people of the state a sense of pride and ownership within the Nigerian state.
“He set a standard of service that became a model for all his successors. A man of class and decency. He will be missed.”
