THE Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has urged telcos to devise new services to deepen the nation’s economy and empower more people.
It also appealed to youths to leverage opportunities offered by information communication technology (ICT) for gainful employment.
Its Executive Vice Chairman, Prof Umar Danbatta, said in a message to a conference organised by the Commission in the Adamawa State capital, Yola, on yesterday that ICT would contribute greatly to Federal Government’s commitment to lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years.

He said the telcos could do more than they do at present to provide fresh opportunities for Nigerians to express themselves and provide highly needed jobs and economic opportunities.
He said: “Whereas mobile network operators have developed infrastructure to support voice service and access to date, it has become expedient for them to unlock new services and sources of value generation and revenue streams in their operations.
