At an event to unveil the award in Lagos, the duo of Johnson Anorh and Adetukasi Adedayo of Oaklands & Johnson Limited, who are the brains behind the award shared their vision and mission which gave birth to what they described by the ‘Grammies of the Web.’
At separate interviews with our correspondent, Anorh and Adedayo, who are both integrated marketing communications experts of over two decades experience said the Gage award was indeed intended to fill a vacuum in a system where many talents however good and notable are neglected due to their poor stations in life.
According to the Anorh, “The Gage awards is the first of its kind in Nigeria and hopes to change the way we see things as far as the digital ecosystem in Nigeria and Africa is concerned. It will reward the very best of the digital world, this will include Businesses & Brands, Influencers, Apps and Web developers, entertainers and many more.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Adedayo said, the awards will be given in various categories of excellence on the night, under five key areas including entertainment, innovation, inspiration, information and Business for the year in review-2019.
Stake holders and analysts has deduced that this award could be the most pristine awards in the Nigerian digital space because of its thorough auditing process. This process is machinated by their partnership with PWC; a quality assurance that would ensure a world class standard for the Gage prize.
The gage academy of judges includes: Nkemdilim Uwaje Begho, Tajudeen Adepetu, Obi Asika, Amaechi Okobi, Osayi Alile, Kunmi Demuren and Kamil Olufowobi. These are industry leaders in their various capacities who has mostly worked behind the scenes in creating business, social and economic landscapes in Nigeria.
The premier digital ceremony is set to identify, highlight and reward activities online that help shape the pace of human development in Africa and especially Nigeria, in Innovation, Information, Inspiration, Entertainment, and Business.
