THE Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is set to raise the bulk power wheeling capacity from 8,100 megawatts (MW).
The firm has raised $1.66billion for it.
TCN’s Managing Director Usman Gur Mohammed disclosed this during an electricity awareness walk ahead of the 14th West African Power Pool (WAPP) General Assembly’s kick-off today in Abuja.

During the walk hosted by TCN and Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited (MESL), Mohammed, who doubles as WAPP’s Executive Board Chairman, said: “Despite all the problems that we think we have, this government has done a lot of a good job for this country.
“TCN did a 20-Year Least Cost Transmission Expansion Plan, which is the first time in Nigeria and established the Transmission Rehabilitation and Expansion Programme (TREP), which attracted over $1.66 billion from international donors.”
