Reps probe ‘age falsification’ in Auditor-General’s office

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Account is investigating alleged age falsification by some workers in the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation (OAGF).

Chairman of the probe committee, Wale Oke, said they received a petition bothering on age falsification.

The committee chair said the petition alleged that nominal roll of the Office was fraudulently altered to prolong the workers’ stay in the civil service.

Director of Human Resources, Mr Umar Abdulahi, who represented the OAGF during the investigative session, said the Office would present all relevant documents to the committee at the next hearing.

He told the lawmakers that those mentioned in the petition were on national assignment and that one other person had retired.

Thoose who appeared before the committee denied the allegations.

The hearing resumes on November 12.
