Edo Chief Judge frees phone repairer

A phone repairer, Mr. Chukwuebuka Eze aged 25 has regained freedom after spending four years and 11 months in prison custody without trial.

There was no trace of his case file.

Eze was freed by Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Esohe Ikpomwen, during her visit to the medium correctional facility along Sapele road in Benin City

He was a phone accessories trader at Abudu in Orhionmwon Council Area before his arrest.

Eze was remanded in the custody of correctional centre, on November 5, 2014, for alleged conspiracy, robbery and murder.

Justice Ikpomwen advised him to turn a new leave and ordered his release.

Ikpomwen also granted Festus Asemota and Daniel Osioma bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum, respectively.

The Edo Chief Judge commenced her correctional facilities visit on Wednesday and would retire from service on November 22, 2019.
