Another priest kidnapped in Enugu

THE spate of Catholic priests’ abduction in Enugu State is yet to abate as another clergyman was seized and taken away on Monday night by unidentified gunmen.

The priest, whose name was given as Reverend Father Malachy Asadu, was reportedly kidnapped in Nsukka, along Imilike-Nsukka Road on his way from a diocesan meeting in the university town.

The latest incident brings to nine the number of Catholic priests abducted in the state recently.

Two lost their lives.

The state police command confirmed the abduction.

Police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu said that details of the clergyman’s abduction were still sketchy.

But Amaraizu said the police have launched a manhunt for the hoodlums with a view to finding and freeing the priest unhurt.
