Three Chinese regain freedom

The three Chinese abducted on Monday by gunmen at a mining site in Ijoka village near Itagunmodi in Atakumosa West Area of Osun State have regained freedom.

Osun State Police Commissioner Mrs. Abiodun Ige confirmed the release of the victims to reporters, but declined to mention the time or how they were released.

However, she said no ransom was paid to the hoodlums.

One unidentified police orderly was shot dead by the gunmen and his service rifle carted away before they carried out the kidnap.

Also, one of the expatriates, who attempted to escape on sighting the hoodlums, was shot and injured. It was confirmed by the police that he is recuperating at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.
