The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has described the late former Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, High Chief Sam Iredia, as a rare breed technocrat of high repute. In a statement yesterday, Oshiomhole said that the late high chief contributed immensely to the development of the state, dating back to the era of the old Bendel State, when he served as a commissioner under the administration of the late Prof. Ambrose Alli.
He extolled his exemplary life of service to the state and humanity, in very diverse areas. The statement read: “You left us at a time when your presence is most needed, not only owing to your reservoir of knowledge, but also because of my certainty that Edo and our dear country at large can still continue to benefit from your wealth of wisdom and your dedication to all. In all gamut of your eventful life, including your years as commissioner under Prof. Ambrose Alli, or in service as Chief of Staff to the Governor in Edo State, you shone like a million stars.

“As a member of the defunct Action Congress (AC), one of the legacy parties that constituted the APC, you were there with us, through thick and thin, in the battle to retrieve our mandate, in Edo State, back in 2012, and till the end, you did not waiver. It was therefore with a heavy heart that I received the news of your passing. In or out of government, you impacted so much across the spectrum, with your gentle and unassuming disposition in the discharge of your duties. You remain a source of inspiration to many. I pray that God grant those that you have left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
