The police in Ogun State have arrested a 42-year-old man, Taofeek Oyeyemi, for allegedly impregnating his teenage daughter.
Oyeyemi, the police alleged, forced his 16-year-old daughter to undergo abortion after realising that he had impregnated her.
It was gathered that the girl suffered excessive bleeding as a result of the abortion alleged to have been done at a quack clinic in Ewekoro.
Angered by the development, the victim’s mother, said to have divorced the suspect before the incident, reported at the police station and the man was arrested.
The police said the girl only started living with her father about six months ago when he forcefully took her from the mother.

Spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said preliminary investigation showed that efforts by the woman to take her daughter from the man failed, adding that it was when the victim started bleeding that she informed the mother.
Oyeyemi said the suspect had 17 children from different women, adding that he confessed to have had sex with the victim several times.
He said: “The suspect confessed to have slept with the victim several times, which resulted in pregnancy. To conceal the secret, he took his daughter to a quack doctor for abortion.
“Preliminary investigation shows that the victim’s mother separated from the suspect years ago and the girl was living with her mother until about six months ago when the suspect forcefully took her away from her mother.
“Efforts by the mother to take custody of her daughter proved abortive. It was when she came to visit her daughter that she discovered the incest committed by the suspect.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.”
