An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti State has remanded a 22-year-old man, Temitope Olaboni, in prison for alleged armed robbery.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of armed robbery.
Prosecuting Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 15 at Ido-Ekiti.
He said that the defendant went to the home of Alausa Muheedeen, with a locally-made gun and robbed him of N350,000, adding that he also searched the complainant’s car and stole N50,000 belonging to him.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 402(2) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
He urged the court to remand the defendant in prison pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The defendant’s plea was not taken.
Chief Magistrate Mr. Adesoji Adegboye ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the case till January 17.
