Speed-Up Lagos trains youths

In a bid to tackle unemployment among youths, a group, Speed-Up Lagos has trained some youths  from Oto Awori Local Council Development Area ( LCDA, Ijanikin, Lagos State).

Speaking at the event,  the Executive Chairman of Oto Awori LCDA, Ijanikin, Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa said the government is ready to fight unemployment and to provide necessary support for the youths.

Asafa made this statement at the graduation of SPEED – UP LAGOS skills acquisition held y at the Council Secretariat, Ijanikin.

According to the LG boss, any education that can not earn one earn a living will make such a person live in poverty.

He added that the empowerment programme would not only allow the youths to be their own bosses,  but also enable them to be employers of labour, thereby, reducing the army of unemployed people in our society.

The Director of operations, SPEED – UP LAGOS, Princess Oluwagbemisola  Ajetunmobi explained that SPEED – UP LAGOS means as Sanwo-olu, Projecting, Enhancing, Elevating, Developing, Upgrading, Perfecting, Lagos.

She said the Lagos governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu wants all youths to be lawfully engaged as an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

Ajetunmobi at the end of the programme, inspected the participants’ handiworks and applauded their skills.

Participants who took part in the three week empowerment training were given certificates in fashion designing, hair styling, production of bags and shoes, catering service, make -up and gele, event planning and others.
