The Chief Investment Officer, Ovid Capita, United Kingdom,  Mr. Ekos Akpokabayen, has called on young leaders in Africa to strive more with purpose of taking over in various sectors to transform the continent into prosperity for all, taking advantage of our heritage.

Akpokabayen, who also doubles as the author of the African Progressive Initiative, said this in his New Year message made available to The Nation in Lagos

“We are beginning a new decade with huge significance.Twenty Years ago we were blessed to witness a new millennium and as predicted we have seen the fastest growth and change in human civilization throughout our history”.

He said that this rapid growth has brought upon us new challenges, as never before the gap globally between the rich and poor is in all time high and also rapid increase in our population growth, at the same time we are seeing the widest gap in knowledge and education

“The best time to ever be alive in history is now. While there has been rise in populist leaders and more ego power or strong men leaders in the world currently, we have seen minority groups rising more on the scale of civic acceptance especially Black Africans”, he said.

“The fast pace of world has seen some countries entrusting their future to young leaders like Belgium which elected a 34 years old female Prime Minister”, he said.

He posited further that the earth is our home and on the long run all races are equal in the sight of our Creator and we all have the responsibility to take care of this World, thus knowledge and resources should not be deprived deliberately from Africa to enable Africans become equal partners in tackling the world problems and challenges.

He said that as we celebrate the Happy New Year, it is important to focus on the year ahead and what it means.

He stressed that the year ahead is full of uncertainties, as we await the outcome of the U.S elections, Brexit, U.S China Trade war, China crypto currency, Iran, Turkey, Israel, North Korea and a looming global recession, we have to remain optimistic and positive against all odds.

“I am very hopeful that in this coming year 2020 as we enter a new decade the human race will prevail above all challenges as our God watches over us”, he said.

He cited the words of Plato “We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light” so don’t be afraid of the light. The greatest wealth is to live content with little.
