Tawari attack: Bello visits Koto, pledge govt support for victims

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has assured the people of Tawari community that his administration will do everything to stand by them and ensure immediate assistance to the victims of the attack.

Some unknown gunmen in the wee hours of last Thursday attacked Tawari community in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

No less than 19 residents of Tawari were killed and buildings, including the palace of the local chief razed.

Bello’s visit comes a day after his deputy, Edward Onoja, was at Tawari for an on the spot assessment.

The governor made the pledge when he visited the Ohimege-Igu of Koto-Karfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, at his palace on Sunday.

Bello reiterated his administration’s commitment at ensuring that the attackers are fished out and made to face justice.

He condoled with the Ohimege and the people of the area, and enjoined them to remain calm assuring that the administration wrll not relent in its effort to protect the lives and property of the people of the state.

He described the attack as barbaric, inhuman and unwanted.

He, therefore, assured that his administration will do everything to stand by them, noting that both the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) will provide them with timely supports.

He commended the security agencies including the state vigilante service for their prompt response in restoring peace in the community.
