The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has criticised the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command’s spokesperson Anjuguri Manzah for not accepting that the police killed a journalist, Alex Ogbu, in Abuja.
Last Tuesday, Shi’ite members held a “Free El-Zakzaky” protest from Utako Market to Berger Bridge, where the police allegedly fired gunshots and tear gas canisters to disperse them.
The gunshot hit the journalist and killed him instantly.
But the police claimed that the victim was a passer-by.

Ogbu, until his death, worked with the Abuja-based Regent Africa Time magazine.
The IMN described the police action as unprofessional.
The sect dismissed the claim by Anjuguri, saying: “His claims are baseless and unacceptable on all grounds. The police should be cautious and must restrain from firing live ammunitions in public space.
“Our continuous protests are as a result of the failure by the Muhammadu Buhari government to release our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, and his wife…”
