OSUN State government on Sunday took the precaution campaign on Lassa fever to churches.

The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Olasiji Olamiju, visited Living Faith Church, Oke-Onitea, Osogbo; Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Latona, Osogbo and United Baptist Church of Nigeria, Oke Egan, Ede, to sensitise the people on the disease.

He said Governor Gboyega Oyetola directed him to visit worship centres across the state to educate the worshipers.

Addressing the congregation at Living Faith Church, Oke-Onitea, Osogbo, Olamiju said: “All of us must have read and heard about the ravaging effect of Lassa fever. Though we didn’t have the case last year, but our neighbouring state, Ondo, is experiencing a nasty effect of the virus.”

The governor’s aide advised Osun State residents to take proactive measures against the disease.

He added: “I must tell you we have a lot of proactive measures to take. But government is combat-ready for it though government cannot do it alone. This is because government does not live in individual houses. That is the more reason this sensitisation campaign against this deadly disease is essential.”
