The Kano State government has called on farmers in the state to avoid planting before the establishment of the onset of year 2020 planting season.
The call is premised on year 2020 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction (SRP) by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) as presented by the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, yesterday, and appraised by the state Ministry of Water Resources, indicated that a couple of rainfall events are expected to occur before the establishment of the 2020 planting season.
It stated that Kano is expected to experience a near normal rainfall season in 2020 and therefore called on farmers to use the weather and climate information to their benefits.
A prevalence of diseases related to weather conditions, such as malaria and meningitis were also forecasted.
