Three passengers were yesterday crushed to death and three others were seriously injured when a truck ran off its lane into an adjoining one, running over the taxi that was conveying the victims and coming in the opposite direction.
The accident, which occurred in the afternoon at Obada Oko Mechanic Village corridor of the Lagos – Abeokuta expressway, involved a truck marked AGL 535 XW, a Nissan Taxi with registration number TRE 150 YJ and a Corolla car with number plate ABB 984 TF.

Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were seen trying to clear obstruction caused by the accident.
They also directed traffic and rescued the victims from the mangled taxi.TRACE spokesman Babatunde Akinbiyi, who attributed the accident to traffic violation – driving one way against traffic- said the injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, while the remains of the dead were kept at the mortuary of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.
