Bini Chief jailed for assault

A Bini Chief, Obamedo Ode, has been sentenced to two months imprisonment for assault.

Chief Onaiwu was jailed by an Egor Magistrate Court for assaulting one Chief Edwin Onaiwu by beating him with a stick.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Sunday had informed the court that the convict committed the crime on February 22, 2018 at Iguotor community Egor local government area.

The prosecutor stated that Chief Obamedo unlawfully assaulted the complainant with a stick and did cause him harm.

He said the offence contravened section 355 of the Criminal Code Cap. 48 Vol. 11, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, now applicable in Edo State.

Presiding Magistrate, Aiyanyo Blessing found Chief Obamedo after she found him guilty of one count charge of assault.

Alyanyo however gave Chief Obamedo an option of N20, 000 fine.
