The fold of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) soared yesterday with the defection of immediate past deputy governor, Lasisi Oluboyo, the pioneer state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Col. Samuel Awodeyi (retd) and another foundation member of PDP and former commissioner in the state, Chief Olabisi Johnson, with their supporters from the 18 local government areas of the state.
Among other defectors were former Commissioner Taye Akinyele, Tope Akomolafe, former deputy speaker, Dare Emiola, Olusola Agbi, Ade Fayehun, aka Ade Basket, and Prince O. Adegbonmire.
Receiving the defectors at the third anniversary rally held at MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, the state APC chairman, Ade Adetimehin, expressed appreciation to God for witnessing the massive crossover of leaders and supporters of many leaders from various political parties in the state.
He noted that God was doing marvellous things in the party through the laudable activities of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
At the ceremony were Akeredolu, his deputy, Agboola Ajayi, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Tayo Alasoadura, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Bamidele Oleyelogun, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ifedayo Abegunde, members of the State Executive Council(SEC) and other personalities.

Adetimehin on behalf of the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, received the defectors, urging them to see themselves as full members of the party as from now on.
He said the list of the new defectors would soon be sent to APC chairmen in the 18 local government areas for formal enrolment.
The APC state chairman urged them to go back home and work for the victory of Akeredolu for second term in order to enable him complete the good work he is doing.
Deputy governor Agboola Ajayi eulogised his boss (Akeredolu) for the giant strides recorded in the last three years, stressing that the impacts of his administration were all over the state.
He charged new members to work diligently for the success of the party ahead of October 10 governorship election.
Akeredolu who was visibly happy about the success of the APC in the state and his administration berated those antagonists in the Unity Forum, stressing that they will fail in their moves.
In their separate reactions, Oluboyo, Olabisi and Awodeyi, the three leaders of the defectors, said they were encouraged by the achievements recorded by Akeredolu’s administration since inception.
