THE best way to serve people is to provide for their needs at the right time. These were the words of Hon. Ganiyu Johnson, a member of the House of Representatives representing Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 2 as he donated some materials to his constituents at the weekend. The lawmaker said his efforts to assist the needy were getting the desired results, noting that it was part of his manifesto to fight poverty in the constituency.
Johnson, who was represented by his wife, Funke, spoke during the Ganiyu Johnson Food For All at the Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 2 programme. He said it was wasteful when the haves could not give to the have-nots.
He said that he would always feed the constituents since he discovered that they were very happy with the programme and also to maintain his integrity because promise he would always be with them apart from being in Abuja for lawmaking.
Johnson said the time had come for him to prove himself and reciprocate the gesture. He added that considering the poverty in the area, and the fact that food was a very important item in the home, the constituents have demonstrated they like what he was doing.
He maintained that since the programme started last year, a lot of feedback from the constituents showed they looked forward to it.

“This programme has been touching lives, and we have decided that it would continue because many people have come to the constituency office to express appreciation with what we are doing.
“You know that leadership is about the people, once the people are happy with a particular project we would continue to delight them. They are the ones who put us there to represent them and our duty as representatives is to make them happy. We have other programmes for them, and we will surely let them maximise the dividend of democracy as we have promised them” he said.
Ibironke Olaleye, wife of chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, said Johnson had the unique leadership style and the constituents had continued to attest to that.
She maintained that the feedback from the programme showed there had not been any leader in the constituency who had beaten Johnson’s record of kindness to his people.
A beneficiary, Chiamaka Okeke, said the lawmaker has been assisting the people right from the first day he was elected. According to her, “I thought it was another campaign by politicians, until I saw cartons of food given to people. I have not seen any politician who has won elections and come back to give to constituents, the way Johnson has been doing.”
