He was said to have been kidnapped in his farm in Amuzu-Ezeke village, Amasiri community, in the Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Wednesday.
The victim was the younger brother to a former Commissioner in the state and a one-time member of House of Assembly, in the old Imo State, Mr. Gabriel Idam.
A source in the community told The Nation that the kidnappers had contacted the family and made a demand of N10 million, as ransom, for the victim’s release.
The kidnappers further threatened to kill the victim if the family fails to pay the ransom, at the stipulated time.

Another source, who is close to the family, told our correspondent that they were deeply worried over the incident.
He lamented that the family could not provide the kind of money the suspected kidnappers were demanding, as ransom.
Police Spokesman in the state, Loveth Odah, said she was to be notified on the matter as the family failed to report the matter to the police.
Odah, who noted that kidnapping was a serious crime in the state, wondered why such thing would happen without anyone from the area, reporting it to the police.
