Vice-Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Planning Committee, Bayo Alabidun, said the theme of the anniversary lecture series is centred on building a better society.
He spoke when he and other members visited The Nation head office in Lagos on Tuesday. They were received by the Editor, Mr Adeniyi Adesina.
Alabidun said the tree planting was part of NASFAT’s bid to join the advocacy for environmental preservation.
The planning committee said NASFAT, formed on March 5, 1995, has recorded successes.
These include the establishment of a private university that has graduated thousands of scholars and professionals, capacity building for women, skills empowerment, youth development, vocational training, among others.
He added that agencies of the NASFAT Society have established leadership positions in Hajj and Umrah services, in Zakat mobilisation and administration through the NASFAT Agency for Zakat and Sadaqat, and humanitarian relief services through the NASFAT Relief Initiative (NRI).
